Taneycomo (Table Rock Tailwater) October 27, 2007
The brown trout are coming up the river in preparation for spawning. We saw lots of really big ones and heard of a 17 pounder being
caught. I saw several very large ones jump out of the water just to tease me. I did not catch a single brown myself but lots of rainbows and
most were good sized quality fish. There were 12 TulsaFlyFishers who attended the outing and most everyone experienced good fishing.
The weather was cold on Thursday and Friday but the weekend endied up being very nice and sunny with highs around 65. Mike Scott
reports about 25% of the fish he caught were browns though the largest was a rainbow of 22 inches weighing about 5 lbs. We had dinner
Saturday night at Shorty Smalls BBQ (it's OK but nothing to write home about). It was very nice to meet and get to know some new faces
too. Successful flies were #10 olive wooly worms, #16 & 18 olive and black zebra midges, #16 & 18 brown, black and yellow bodied soft
hackles, #14 big ugly dry fly I got on the Green River this summer, and a #14 crackle-back dry fly I got from Carolyn at River Run Outfitter's.

Trout Tournament Nov 10, 2008
We had a total of 20 fisherman this weekend. Several members of Green Country Fly Fishers drove down from
Bartlesville to support our fund raising event for the lower Illinois River. Dale Deuvall and his partner Jason Porter
took first place with a 12 fish total of 136 inches ... second place went to John Johnson and Del Moore with 134 and
only 3/4 of an inch separated third from them. Largest fish went to Scott Hood at 14.5 inches. We raised about $325.

Roaring River Missouri
Our January 08 outing to the Roaring River was a great success. About 23 people showed up including some of our
Bartlesville friends from Green Country Flyfishers. Once again, Joel Kantor provided his famous bar-b-que and
others brought a covered dish to share. The weather was much improved from last year with temperatures near 50.

TFF Members Mike Scott, Brian Turner, Al Bernhiemer and Fred Kirk fished the Green River below Flaming Gorge Dam in Utah for 5 days
this summer. All agreed, it's one of the best. We all caught lots of fish wading section A which includes the first seven miles below the
dam to the take out at Little Hole. This section is very accessible with a well maintained trail along the entire seven miles. Tulsa Fly
Fisher's annual 2008 trip will be here July 31st - August 8th. See the Calendar page for more details.

Blue River, Tishomingo, OK - Feb 23, 2008
Our February outing to the Blue River was an adventure to new places. As far as I am aware, only four of us made
the 3.25 hour drive from Tulsa. The weather probably had a lot to do with the small turnout. It was a little chilly in the
50s with a light breeze, clouds and the threat of rain. The Blue is a beautiful river containing boulders, small water
falls and lots of brush to catch your fly. The trout fishing was fun and we enjoyed the experience of a new river but
we all agreed the Lower Illinois is much better for trout fishing and you save 4 hours driving round trip.

Blue River, Tishomingo, OK - March 4-6, 2008
On a snowy Tuesday morning, Bill Campbell, Ron Edlin, Nick Nail, Bruce Schutte, John Shields, Roy Smyth, Jim
Sturdivant, George Walker and I (Charlie Campbell) headed south toward the Blue River for three days of wonderful
trout fishing. There was still some snow on the ground at the river, but the sun came out and the day warmed up
nicely. Unfortunately, all the rain and snow in the area had caused the river to rise about a foot and it was brown and
murky, which pretty much killed the fishing. Wednesday was a beautiful warm day with lots of sunshine but very
few fish due to the still murky water. We worked several different stretches of the river, including the access north
of Hwy 7. Thursday's weather had changed considerably from earlier forecasts and it was cold and windy and snow
was spitting on us all morning. By the time we left for home at noon, the snow was really coming down. During the
trip, nine fishermen only managed to catch less than 30 trout. However, we all enjoyed being outdoors on the Blue
River and enjoyed the time we spent solving the world's problems over a nice glass of wine. We will definitely go
back next winter.

Lower Mountain Fork River, Beavers Bend State Park, Broken Bow, OK - March 12-14, 2008
Weather was beautiful with highs in the 70s. I got a little warm and changed from full waders to my light weight
breathable hippers from Hodgeman. I'm so glad I got them last summer "on sale" in one of those fancy fly shops in
West Yellowstone. They are really comfortable. The fishing in the newly restored Evening Hole and Lost Creek areas
has improved immensely since last summer. There are lots of big fish 15-20 inches in this water and it is much
clearer than last year. I fished two days this week with fellow TFF members Al Bernhiemer and Brian Turner. We all
caught lots of fish on soft hackles, copper johns, small wooly buggers plus royal wulff and march brown dry flies.

Lower Illinois River, March 22, 2008
"One for the River" a family play day on the lower Illinois River was a big success despite the fact that recent heavy
rains necessitated a 10,400 cfs release from tenkiller dam keeping most everyone off the water. No problem, we
had a great turnout for our fund raising event to benefit lower Illinois river habitat improvements. There was great
weather, a great crowd, great bar-b-que, and great prizes awarded to raffle winners. Click the link below to see
pictures of the event and if you have speakers on your computer turn them on to hear the river roaring below the
dam! I will update this message soon with more pictures. We raised more than $4000.
Tulsa Fly Fishers/Okla_Chapter of Trout Unlimited/Federation of Fly Fishers should be very proud of our
accomplishments. Special thanks to all our sponsors and volunteers who's donations and time made this event a
success!
